Quedlinburg

Quedlinburg traces its history back as far as the 10th century and was at one time the capital of the Franconian German Empire. It has been a prosperous trading time since the Middle Ages. At the heart of Quedlinburg is its beautifully restored medieval Old Town. The quaint, cobbled streets are lined with immaculate half-timbered buildings and pretty, painted houses.

The quality and sheer number of these restored, half-timbered buildings has seen Quedlinburg awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. The Colliegate Church of St Servatius, located in the centre of Quedlinburg, is regarded as a true masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. Considered to be one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, Quedlinburg offers a wealth of history and culture, whilst also having a modern flair and fabulous examples of Art Nouveau architecture.
